Programme Assistant Voluntary Role

Responsible to Programme Coordinator
Duration - 12 Months

Primary Function: As a residential member of Corrymeela’s lived community in the Ballycastle Centre, the Programme Assistant will support the Programme Coordinator with the planning, and coordination of groups as they prepare to visit the Centre. The Programme Assistant will lead out residential and non-residential reconciliation and educational programmes, and contribute to the overall improvement of the quality of our work and smooth running of the Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Assist, plan and lead Centre-based reconciliation and educational programmes (residential, day groups and workshops).
- Interact positively with other volunteers; and support their training and development as needed.
- Liaise with groups regarding enquiries, bookings and their programme, and make appropriate arrangements with Programme Coordinator, Booking Administrator and other staff and volunteers to ensure smooth delivery of programmes.
- Liaise with Programme Coordinator regarding Centre monthly planning, including centre resources, room allocations, and practicalities.
- Contribute towards the development and improvement of external and internal communication.
- Update, publish and further develop the ‘Centre Information Sheet.’
- Coordinate Ballycastle centre open events, by liaising with event organisers and participants, advertising events and maintaining attendee lists.
- Participate in the “Cover” Rota (duty management shift).
- Provide support for the planning and delivery of the Summer Programme.
- Participate in all appropriate training programmes.
- Any other duties as required.

- Ability to demonstrate a close sympathy and support for the ethos of Corrymeela.

- Leadership and group-work skills.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
- Capacity to learn on-the-job and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Experience of working with volunteers.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Willingness and shows initiative.
- Ability to be flexibile and work in a demanding environment.
- A third level educational qualification or three years relevant experience.
- Knowledge and ability in the use of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Evidence of good health.
The Programme Assistant will need the ability to cope with diverse demands and irregular working hours, to act on his/her own initiative, and exercise leadership and sound judgment.
Support:
The programme assistant will receive accommodation, meals, and a modest stipend for expense reimbursement. A training and development plan will be agreed upon for the year. The role has a probation period of 3 months. Successful applicants will be background checked according to Corrymeela’s Safe-Guarding Policy.
