Reflecting on need and desire in the gospel of Mark

Holy City & Wild Goose’s annual Urban Retreat with Pádraig Ó Tuama, poet, peace & reconciliation worker and Leader of the Corrymeela Community.

“What do you want?” is the intriguing question that Jesus asks Bartimaeus in the gospel of Mark. While Bartimaeus could have been justified saying “It’s bloody obvious, your Lordship” we can go deeper and recognize that the question itself is one of respect, demonstrating that it is a dignity to be asked to name your own desire.

This retreat will explore some narratives of need and desire from the gospel of Mark, and incorporate storytelling, poetry and sharing from the participants.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the retreat. Lunch on Saturday is not included, but there are several cafes and sandwich shops nearby that provide a variety of food.

The suggested donation for the retreat is £30–£50 (please decide how much according to your financial means).
