The Corrymeela Community, with The Understanding Conflict Trust, is delighted to host Professor John Braithwaite from the Australian National University for a series of workshops exploring ‘The Politics of Hope and Reconciliation.’ Since 2004 John has led a project called Peacebuilding Compared.  Northern Ireland is one of 35 armed conflicts studied for the Peacebuilding Compared data analysis.  He believes in renewing peace processes by drawing out the ideas and energy of the younger generation to lead, building on the peacebuilding accomplishments and failures of their parents and grandparents.

The seminars will look at how political and civic momentum can be sustained in support of the Good Friday Agreement and subsequent agreements established up to and beyond the recent 2015 ‘A Fresh Start’.

Saturday 28th May 2016, 7pm – 9pm “The Significance of Reconciliation Groups in Conflicts”

Sunday 29th May 2016, 2.30pm – 4.30pm “Acknowledging our Pasts: Embracing the Future Together”.
With Denis Bradley, co–chair of the Eames /Bradley ‘Consultative Group on the Past’ and Alan McBride, Centre Coordinator of the WAVE Trauma Centre in Belfast.
