People of Peace and Protest in the Gospel – A retreat led by Pádraig Ó Tuama, Leader of the Corrymeela Community.

The Universe is made of stories, not atoms”, the American poet, Muriel Rukeyser said. But how do our stories overlap each other, contradict each other, harmonise and create disharmony?

After all, there is not one single story; there are many stories – like the stories of the people in the gospels. These are angry people, prayerful people, people under occupation, people who are raising taxes, paying taxes, people who are in need, and people who are marginalized – people, in fact just like us.

This retreat will give us time to look at the people of protest and peace in the gospel traditions and make conversations between those stories and our lives today. We will tell true stories with each other, as well as reflect on the primal need all people have to story themselves and to story their identities in order to make sense of our disordered world.
