Friends Weekend at Ballycastle, May 2013
18 Jul 2013
We came from far and wide and were welcomed by Members, Staff and Volunteers. We greeted old friends as we shared a meal and then introduced ourselves to the whole group in the beautiful lounge in the new Davey Village.
Then we moved, with the sun setting over the sea, to the Croi for evening worship.
On Saturday morning Susan McEwen shared with us how the Community is re–energising its programme. Then Derick Wilson, sharing insights from Andre Lescaris and Duncan Morrow, reminded us that our politicians were only asked to do a deal for the present; not deal with the past, or come up with a vision for the future.
After lunch and time to relax Bill Osborne, the Interim Chief Executive, explained to us how the Community had decided, as part of its strategic planning to review its “day to day organisation” and its “governance and structure”.
On Sunday we heard some inspirational stories from four of this year’s volunteers before Inderjit, in the final session, outlined the on–going search for the best way to use the Centre in today’s environment to enable everyone to come and leave enriched.
