About the Job

The Corrymeela Community

The Corrymeela Community in partnership with Facing History & Ourselves wish to appoint a

Project Co-Ordinator (funded for 3 years)

The Corrymeela Community is a Christian community of reconciliation which is involved in a wide range of peace building and reconciliation programmes, primarily in Northern Ireland. Facing History and Ourselves is an international educational and professional development organization.

The main aim of this project is to provide professional development and follow-up support for history and citizenship teachers, trainee teachers and students. The goal is to promote understanding between the different communities in Northern Ireland and to support educators' abilities to teach the past, make connections to contemporary issues and to develop caring, compassionate and active citizens. This project is funded by the International Fund for Ireland (IFI) and administered through the Department of Education (DENI).

It is essential that the post holder has:

  • Degree or equivalent (Defined as pre-degree qualification + significant level of professional experience)
  • Professional qualification or equivalent (Defined as qualified teacher or qualified youth worker. Equivalence might be someone who has 5 years' or more experience working in youth-work settings)
  • Currently able to work in Northern Ireland
  • Experience working on issues of reconciliation and conflict resolution in an educational context for at least two years.

This post will be based in Belfast at Corrymeela House, but will require some residential work at our Ballycastle Centre. The project will be funded until August 2013.

Closing date for application is 12 noon on Monday 2nd August 2010.

Interviews will be held on 9th or 10th August 2010.

Role Description:           Projects Administrator (Volunteer Role)

Location:                       BALLYCASTLE CENTRE

 

Reporting to:                  Centre Director

                                      Finance Director

 

Role Purpose:

The role of the Projects Administrator for the Centre Director and Finance Director is to provide help to the Centre Director and Finance Director in matters of administration as well as tasks and projects that come under the purview of the Centre Director and Finance Director. The role serves to help with matters of organizing events that help Corrymeela work on community outreach as well as other requests at the need of the Centre Director and Finance Director.

 

Please read the role description and note it is for one year and will have a stipend of £220 per month.  Accommodation may be provided depending on circumstances.
