Job Title: Senior Finance Accountant

Overall Purpose

To provide support and capacity to the Head of Finance and Business Development, to ensure the effective delivery of financial and business operations in Corrymeela. ​​​​​​​

Key Tasks

Finance Management

  • Ensure accuracy of day–to–day financial records including income/payments, purchases, and nominal ledger transactions.
  • Manage the month end close process including journal preparation, debtors and creditors review and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with year–end external audit process.
  • Support the management of grant funding agreements and contracts in conjunction with the Head of Programme and Programme Managers:
  1. Review, advise and oversee the preparation of financial reports and grant claims to funding partners in a mutually agreed format, ensuring submission on a timely basis.
  2. Prepare and review monthly cashflow overview of grant funding.
  3. Produce and review costings and budget proposals for new grant applications.


  • Ensure that all financial policies, internal control measures and procedures are implemented.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budget, supporting the Leadership Team with support and advice to collate their departmental budgets.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset register, completing fixed asset audits as necessary.


  • Produce monthly management accounts, forecasting and associated reports for the management team.
  • Assist with Board reports.
  • Assist with other KPI and ad–hoc analysis as required.
  • Assist with Year End external audits.


  • Payroll processing, including liaising with other departments to collect information such as time sheets and sick absence information.
  • Processing salary journals.
  • Ensure all statutory reporting (including monthly and year end reports to HMRC) is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with official requirements.
  • Managing the pension.


  • Deputise in the absence of Head of Finance & Business Development
  • Work in close liaison with the Head of Finance and Business Development to ensure the effective and efficient daily operation of the finance department and undertake ad hoc assignments as and when required.
  • To take part in training and performance management procedures.
  • Additional duties as may be reasonably required by the Company and notified to you from time to time.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to a team of Accounts Assistants where required.
  • Be familiar with the Corrymeela Community Charter.
