The Exeter Corrymeela Group invites you to a special event on Saturday 19 of March as part of the Corrymeela Sunday weekend.

The Leader of the Corrymeela Community, the Rev. Dr. Alex Wimberly, will be speaking on ‘Crossing Borders – Opportunities and Challenges.’

The event is open to all, those of all faiths and none, and will be a safe space for those hurt by exclusion of any kind. T

he emphasis will be on how working towards resolving these conflicts can lead to new opportunities.

Group discussions on the theme after the keynote speech by Rev Dr Alex Wimberly, the Leader of Corrymeela, include:

1. Issues which affect young people and those in education, facilitated by Rev Simon Taylor, Exeter University Free Church Chaplain and Baptist minister.

2. Refugee experiences. This will include a former asylum seeker Khaled Deakin sharing his story, the group facilitated by Rev John Alleyne who has long experience of supporting refugees.

3. Exiled groups. Led by Rev Jonathan Herbert from the Hillfield Friary Dorset, who works with Gypsies, Travellers and Showmen in Salisbury Diocese.

4. Ways of overcoming barriers: opportunities. Led by Simon Keyes, visiting Professor at Winchester University and Director of Peacebuilders for Diocese of Bath & Wells.

We would appreciate early booking please – see the front page for details. Entry will be by donation. The venue is accessible to all and there is parking for those with mobility difficulties. The centre http://themint.org.uk/  is in a central location in Fore Street Exeter, EX4 3AT, near bus stops and 6–8 minutes’ walk from Exeter Central Station. Drinks will be provided; please bring your own lunch.

Programme for the day

12 noon Centre reception open to register, for eating lunch (please bring your own), drinks and meeting each other.

1.00 pm Opening and keynote speech, Rev Dr Alex Wimberly

2.15 pm approx Tea/coffee and cake

2.45 – 3.45 pm Break out groups

3.45 pm Feedback and closing session

4.15 pm Event ends.

All are also invited to attend the 10am Eucharistic service at Exeter Cathedral on Corrymeela Sunday where Dr. Wimberly will be the guest preacher.
