Trauma Informed Approach to Practice Training

Dates:  Monday, 6th June – Tuesday 7th June 2022

Where:  Corrymeela Centre, 5 Drumaroan Road, Ballycastle BT54 6QU

We are bearing witness to people being forcibly displaced from their countries to escape serious human right violations, persecution, and systematic harms, throughout our world.

The experience of seeking asylum and refuge is a complex process, and the pain, and wounding from traumatic experiences can be devastating.

Displaced persons are often forced to justify their experience and suffering throughout exile, and all too often many systems fail to recognise the meaning and expressions of their emotional and psychological wounding, and embodied pain. This serves to compound existing fragmentation and disconnection from self and others.

This training is designed for professionals and managers supporting staff, and for practitioners, staff and volunteers supporting people seeking asylum and refuge in Northern Ireland.

It is a unique opportunity to participate in a two–day residential on the Trauma Informed Approach (TIA) to practice at the Corrymeela Centre in Ballycastle.

This project has been supported by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland through the Department for Health, Mental Health Fund.

No fee will be charged, and places are limited.

Therapeutic and relaxation sessions will be offered to all attending.

To avoid disappointment, please register early.
