Study Weekend
19 - 21 Feb 2027
Corrymeela Centre, Ballycastle
19th –21st February 2027 at the Corrymeela Ballycastle Centre.
Over the years the work of Rene Girard on violence, our mimetic rivalry and our tendency to scapegoat others for our difficulties has shaped the life of many in Corrymeela. His work also allowed us to rethink our faith and take time to rediscover what it means to ‘follow Jesus’.
This open weekend is made up of group sessions exploring issues as they affect our own lives and hopes. It is a chance both to revisit some of that learning and/or to discover it for the first time, by thinking about the real challenges in our lives. By asking questions together and exploring some of Girard’s thinking, we might find ways to freedom.
The weekend will be led by Duncan Morrow. You do not need any prior knowledge to be part of it, only curiosity. A book “On the Way of Freedom “ is available on the Corrymeela website or a hard copy can be purchased at the Ballycastle Centre, if you want some background.
