The Corrymeela Community and partners invite you to attend a unique residential programme exploring the role of archaeology in understanding conflict and change in society.

Date and Time: Friday 9 October, 2015 starting at 7.00pm to Sunday 11 October, 2015 ending at 2.00pm

About

This event is part of the ‘Contact, Culture and Conflict around the Causeway’ project, which re–examines the legacy of conflict and change in the north of Ireland during the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

During the residential programme, participants will have the opportunity to:
• Meet others with an interest in history and heritage in an inclusive environment;
• Explore skills and concepts relating to archaeology and engage with new archaeological findings;
• Undertake interactive visits at sites across North East Ulster and
• Handle and explore objects from the plantation period. Download a more detailed Programme.

Cost

Thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the majority of costs for the programme are covered but we would ask for a £10 contribution payable at the event.

Application Process

Accommodation will be in the Main House at the Corrymeela Centre, Ballycastle. It is possible to participate non–residentially if you live close to the Centre. We cannot guarantee individual rooms per participant, so if you are applying with a friend who you could share a room with, you can indicate this on the application form.

The site visits will require walks of 5–10 minutes including various stopping points where you may be standing for 5–10 minutes. You will also need strong footwear as this will include walking on uneven potentially muddy ground and a warm, waterproof coat is recommended.

**THIS PROGRAMME IS NOW FULLY BOOKED. TO BE PLACED ON A RESERVE LIST OR TO BE NOTIFIED OF A FUTURE EVENT please contact Sean Pettis via email seanpettis@corrymeela.org **
