Violence in the Village (Portsmouth)

12 - 13 Mar 2016
Portsmouth Cathedral

port1 Corrymeela is delighted to partner with Portsmouth Cathedral in March 2016.

Britain and Ireland – our histories and violence, our stories and hope.

2016 is a year of commemorations — we continue to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War, and in addition mark the Easter Uprising of 1916 that began the process of the creation of the Irish Freestate and partition. We mark the lives and stories of those who were icons of peace and encounter in this 100 years. We also mark the ways in which faith has sometimes contributed to pain, rather than healed it.

Our weekend with our friends at Portsmouth Cathedral will bear witness to faith and pain, friendship and peace. In addition, if you wish to incorporate some of these themes into your own congregational services that weekend, we will release prayers, readings and stories about faith, conflict and peace in late February 2016 for you to incorporate into your own events.

This special weekend will incorporate:

6pm Lecture on Handel’s Messiah.
