John Stewart, Executive Director
17 Sep 2018
John Stewart, our Executive Director, joined us in June of this year and we have been delighted to have his skill, insight and management in this role.
Unfortunately, at the end of August, John experienced heart trouble which resulted in him requiring major surgery. Some complications arising from the surgery have necessitated him taking extended leave. He spent some weeks in the Cardiac ICU under the watchful care of the extraordinary staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. We are glad to say that he has, in the last few days, been moved from ICU to the High Dependency Unit. Whilst recovery will be slow, the family are enormously grateful for the improvement he has already achieved.
John’s family have been deeply moved by the love and support they have received from family, friends and colleagues. If you wish to write to John, you are welcome to send cards to him, care of our Belfast office (Corrymeela, 83 University Street, Belfast BT7 1HP).
As you know the Executive Director role at Corrymeela is one of two principal roles (the other being Leader). While awaiting prognoses the Chair, Kate Pettis, Hon. Treasurer, Joe Walsh and Leader, Pádraig Ó Tuama are supporting the staff by taking on some additional leadership functions.
Kate, Pádraig and Joe have all noted the exceptional support of staff and Community members, and wish to thank all Corrymeela staff for their dedication, love and commitment to the work of Corrymeela.
