Corrymeela Programme staff travel to Jordan, Middle East

02 Nov 2018

On the 8th October Corrymeela staff member Denise Bradley and long–standing friend and associate of Corrymeela Joe Campbell, travelled together to Amman, Jordan to join a number of Europe Middle East representatives from Middle Eastern conflict areas, working for Mennonite Central Committee.

The programme had originally been planned for Corrymeela’s Ballycastle site; however difficulties with securing individual visas necessitated ‘Plan B’ to be implemented. This emerged in a quiet, residential street in Amman, a safe space for the representatives to gather. Joe and Denise led sessions facilitating themes of Healing and Trauma, Conflict and Mediation whilst nurturing and exploring the importance of sustaining peacebuilding work for the long–term.

New relationships and friendships were fostered whilst sharing practice, dialogue and learning, enriching the time and space held together.

The emerging themes and key issues identified will inform programme development for the anticipated EME partner visit to Corrymeela Ballycastle this coming February 2019, transforming division through human encounter.
