REMEMBERING THOSE LOST IN THE CONFLICT IN AND ABOUT NORTHERN IRELAND

Healing Through Remembering is ‘an independent initiative made up of a diverse membership with different political perspectives working on a common goal of how to deal with the legacy of the past as it relates to the conflict in and about Northern Ireland.’
The 21st of June – usually the day of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year – is used to highlight the fact that there is no date on the calendar that does not mark the anniversary of a death of a loved one killed in the conflict.
This service, led by member of the Corrymeela's Ballycastle Cell Group, is very powerful. You will want to prepare and pace yourself as memories are shared, violent scenes are described, and difficult truths are put into words.
Our thanks to the Ballycastle Cell Group, to Mary Kiely, and particularly to Yvonne and Richard Naylor for putting this service together.
May the healing needed continue and may our memories hold the lives we’ve lost.
