A New Chapter for Corrymeela

Tesco’s Ballymoney are supporting Northern Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organisation.

For almost sixty years the Corrymeela community, staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to promote a peaceful and shared society based on reconciliation and mutual trust.
For the next few months, all donations received in the Tesco’s store from the book table will be dedicated to the local charity and a store collection will take place on Saturday 6th July from 10.00am to 5.30pm.
Tesco Community Champion, Jackie Brogan, a guest at the Ballycastle centre in December said “Very few people really know what Corrymeela does and their contribution towards a more hope filled and respectful world. I had the opportunity to visit and meet community members, staff, and volunteers. I also had the pleasure of meeting their wonderful Ambassador, actor, James Martin MBE. I heard the most inspiring and humbling stories. I went home pledging to do something and I am delighted that Tesco’s who proudly champion all non–profits, can help.”
Corrymeela’s Supporter Relationship Manager Catherine O’Hara added “I am grateful to Jackie and Tesco’s for their support. It is particularly poignant, given the week of D–Day commemorations that Corrymeela, founded by Ray Davey, himself a prisoner of war, receives this vital financial lifeline.
It was Ray’s determination that surely there must be a better way to resolve differences than by war and destruction, that Corrymeela came into existence. He dedicated every day of his life after the war to promote a peaceful and shared society based on reconciliation and mutual trust.
With the generosity of our local community, Corrymeela will continue to welcome thousands of people from different backgrounds to actively contribute towards a more cohesive and hope filled society. £50.00 raised could pay for a retreat for a local peacebuilder to renew their energy and vision.”
