Running for Peace: Meet Corrymeela’s Belfast City Marathon Relay Team
03 Mar 2026
This May, Corrymeela will be lacing up its running shoes for the Belfast City Marathon — and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce the team representing the Corrymeela Community.
Our relay team, affectionately known as ‘Seb’s Sheep’, is made up of five incredible volunteers: Logan, Evan, Thiago, Naomi, and Sebastian. Together, they’ll be tackling the course as part of the Marathon’s Team Relay on Sunday 3 May 2026, raising vital funds for the work of Corrymeela in the process.
Volunteers: The Beating Heart of Corrymeela
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Corrymeela. From our wider community of members to our long–term volunteers based at the centre, the work of peacebuilding simply wouldn’t be possible without them. That this team is willing to go that extra mile — quite literally in this case — speaks to the extraordinary commitment and spirit that defines everyone who is part of the Corrymeela community.
Let’s Meet our Team
Naomi recently got into running after moving to Ballycastle, drawn in by the stunning oceanside trails on Corrymeela’s doorstep. As a long–term volunteer, she’s found living at Corrymeela to be a genuine gift — and sees the Belfast Marathon as a wonderful opportunity to run in a supportive, high–energy environment alongside others who share her passion for this work.
Logan, hailing from Oregon in the United States, is embarking on his very first relay marathon. He’s been working at becoming a runner for a couple of years, and while he admits it’ll be quite the challenge, he’s motivated by the difference that donations to Corrymeela make for communities across Northern Ireland.
Thiago came to Corrymeela as a volunteer four years ago from Brazil — an experience he describes as life–changing. For him, running this marathon is a chance to give back to a programme that brought him halfway around the world and connected him with people and purpose he wouldn’t have found anywhere else.
How You Can Help
Every pound raised by #TeamCorrymeela goes directly towards supporting the next generation of peacebuilders — through our volunteer programme, our centre users, and our wider community of members.
Whether you can donate the price of a coffee or something more, every single contribution makes a real difference. Donate to Seb’s Sheep on JustGiving.
