Senator George Mitchell

When Tulio Vinay, the founder of the Agapé Community in Italy, spoke at the opening of Corrymeela in 1965 he used this quote from Antonia Byatt. “You don’t know who you are until other people tell you.”
In January 2016 we held the final celebration of Corrymeela’s 50th year at the Irish Consulate in New York. We were honoured that Senator George Mitchell – the tireless architect of the Good Friday Agreement came along and introduced the Evening. His short speech includes his thoughts on Corrymeela and a warning that there is still work to be done to secure the peace in Northern Ireland.
