Many contemporary poets are using biblical texts – appropriating the text according to their own imaginations.This retreat will explore poets whose work builds on religious literacy and stretches the boundaries of faith, belief, religion and prayer, including Marie Howe’s writings about Mary Magdalene, Symmons Roberts’ Psalmody and Alison Funk’s take on the mother of the Prodigal Son, among others.
